Whitegoods products - grace period ends 31 December 2007

All clothes washing machines and dishwashers manufactured or imported into Australia on or after 1 July 2006 must be WELS registered and labelled to be legally supplied.

A grace period was established to allow suppliers to sell through stock manufactured or imported before 1 July 2006 (“old stock”).

You are reminded that this grace period ends on 31 December 2007

As of 1 January 2008, all clothes washing machines and dishwashers*, regardless of their date of manufacture or importation, must be WELS registered and labelled to be legally supplied.

Suppliers are advised to consider undertaking one or more of the following actions in respect to old stock before the 31 December 2007 deadline:
